IMarEST Bangladesh branch AGM held on 21 May 2019

The Annual General Meeting of the IMarEST, Bangladesh Branch, held on Tuesday, the 21^st May 2019 from 1630 hrs to 1830 hrs at the Tava Restaurant, Chittagong.

Discussion held as per scheduled agenda and minutes as follows:

1. To confirm the minutes of the Annual General Meeting held on 6^th June 2018.

Resolved – no objection and observation raised by any member.  Minutes adopted and confirmed.

2. To adopt and approve the Branch Annual Report for 2018-2019.

Resolved – Branch annual report 2018-2019 submitted by the Honorary Secretary.  He read out the report and replied to the queries of the members.  Engr Arifur Rahman Khan raised a query for the steps taken towards lapsed membership.  Secretary informed that concerned members have been reminded to take appropriate steps to reactivate the membership.  Upon consensus, same has been included in the report.

With no further reservation, annual report adopted and approved.

 

3. To receive and pass the audited accounts of the Branch for the fiscal period ended 30^th Sep 2018.

Resolved – The audited accounts of the branch for the fiscal year ended 30^th September 2018 submitted by Honorary Treasurer.  He informed the members of the present standing of the Branch Account, Social Account, and Fixed Deposit Account.   All queries raised by the members duly replied by the treasurer.  Members expressed satisfaction of the accounts being maintained.

All members had adopted and approved the financial report.

4. To appoint auditors for 2018 – 2019 and fix their remuneration.

Resolved – Engr Golam Sarwar proposed to reappoint “Chowdhury Arup and Company” as the auditors for the fiscal year 2018-2019, with their remuneration to be same like previous year.

All members agreed to the proposal and reappointment of “Chowdhury Arup and Company” approved.

5. To introduce the Candidates and to elaborate the election procedure by the Convenor, Election Sub-Committee.

Resolved – Members have nominated Engr. Md. Elias as the Convenor of Election sub-committee to conduct the election of the Branch Honorary Officers and Committee Members.  Convenor explained the election procedures.  Members submitted the nomination papers to him.  Engr. Md. Elias introduced the candidates in a cordial manner.

6. To elect a Committee for 2017 – 2018.

Resolved – Election conducted on voting system.  Convenor of Election sub-committee declared of the elected candidates as follows:

Committee congratulated the elected Branch Officers and Committee Members.

7. To elect a Chairman and Vice Chairman for 2017 – 2018.

Resolved – Chairman and Vice Chairman was elected from the members of the executive committee.  All members unanimously elected Engr. Arifur Rahman Khan, Membership No. 608505 as Chairman and Engr Harunor Rashid, Membership No. 8053973 as Vice Chairman of the Branch for the term 2019-2020.

8. IMarEST Bangladesh branch registration issue

Engr Arifur Rahman Khan briefly informed of the progress of the registration process of this Institute with Joint Registrar of the Company in Bangladesh.  As per information, Institute would be registered as a Society to avoid complication.  After obtaining name clearance, the relevant document now submitted for further process.

Members applauded his initiative in this long pending affair.

Other matters:

9. a) Engr Arifur Rahman Khan briefed the members about branch newly developed web site and its various features. Members can get through Branch activities, members’ data, updates on current issue, notice board, etc, he added. All members appreciated this accomplishment.  Engr Syed Zaman pointed out that a few members’ data not being appeared on the site.  Engr Arifur Rahman assured to take corrective action regarding this matter.

 

1. b) Engr Golam Sarwar proposed to arrange a visit of IMarEST HQ Chief Executive Mr. David Loosley in Bangladesh. He further added that Mr.Loosley also was keen to visit Bangladesh which he expressed during an interaction with Mr. Sarwar in London.

All members delightedly agreed to the proposal.  Mr. Sarwar proposed that further discussion regarding specific plan and program of the visit may be made in next meeting of the executive committee forum.  All members accepted the proposal.

There being no other agenda for discussion, Chairman has adjourned the meeting with thanks.
